Science Diplomacy Policy Tracker

Tracks national-level policy commitments relevant to science diplomacy for countries worldwide. Each country is checked against three criteria: whether it has a dedicated science diplomacy strategy, whether it posts science attachés abroad, and whether it has a national STI (Science, Technology and Innovation) strategy. Data is researched through government and ministry websites, embassy websites, official announcements, and international databases such as the OECD STIP Compass and World Bank, and manually verified on a rolling basis. 54 countries and territories are currently excluded, primarily those with populations under 500,000 or non-sovereign status.

The tally shown for each country (0–3) counts how many of these three criteria are met — it's one of five inputs into the platform's broader country engagement score on the Overview tab, not a standalone rating. Click a country to see the specific strategy names, years, and source links, or click a column header to filter the table by that criterion or by score.
